Wow! With contenders from across the state, Birdathon participants:
- Submitted over 2,000 checklists.
- Counted 201 species of backyard birds from the , in addition to 11 feral, exotic species.
- Birders 12-and-under submitted more than 100 checklists, counting 116 species.
鈥婱igration was in full force during our week-long Birdathon, and 约炮视频 members recorded warblers, tanagers, grosbeaks, hawks, and so much more. Our year-round resident species also made the list, including Burrowing Owls, Florida Scrub-Jays, Snowy Plovers, and Brown-headed Nuthatches. Even our nighttime friends were well-represented! Birders saw or heard Barred, Great Horned, and Eastern Screech-Owls.
Your efforts have reminded us all that Florida birds bring joy to each and every one of us, even during stressful times. Our yards and homes provide a window into the avian world, a world that needs our help now and into the future as climate change and development continues to threaten the places birds need to survive and thrive.
Thank you for birding with us! We will announce prize-winners in the coming week.
约炮视频 Florida Staff Count 121 Species to Celebrate Earth Day
The 约炮视频 team spent the 24 hours of Earth Day counting as many backyard birds as we could to support our programs in the coming year. The result? 31 staff members counted 121 species!
With your support, we will continue to advocate for birds and the places they need in the Florida legislature, along our coasts, in the Everglades and Lake Okeechobee, and across the state.
